High-Performance Camp for the Motivated Player
A camp that focuses on:
• Thinking The Game
• Making Plays
• Winning Offensive and Defensive Battles
• Movement With & Without the Puck
• Creating and Scoring Goals
This camp is for the motivated player aged 12-14 (and 11 year olds who have played at an appropriate level and with references) who is looking to be challenged, take a big step to the next level and with an eye on playing at a high level. Players must have very solid skill and skating levels for their age groups in order to benefit from the camp format. Those that are new to the game, that have not competed at a competitive level, who cannot handle the physical demands of a vigorous training program, or who are looking for a recreational camp should consider another program. We tailor our camps to the age group recommended for each group, and all camps have fun as a key component!!
This camp is all about teaching the most important and usually least taught skill of all, 'Thinking the Game.' We have brought together coaches that all believe 'You can teach hockey sense.'
Core Philosophy: We believe in order to experience success and true learning, players must also make mistakes. In our camp environment, we are committed to helping players learn and make long term changes.
On-ice Skill Development: As we seek to add new tools to each player’s tool box, we teach proper execution then application of the skills in overspeed environments, getting players out of their comfort zones. Position-specific sessions are included in our camps.
Off-ice skills sessions: Increase stickhandling and puck possession skills in our unique skill development sessions.
Training Program: Players will receive information about state-of-the-art hockey-specific training to help them with their off season training. Consulting with USA Hockey and NHL team strength coaches and exercise physiologists, the NAHA program is at the cutting edge of training for hockey. Players leave with an understanding of what they need to do, and when they need to do it.
We are committed to teaching through small games/activities that incorporate concepts of movement, transition, puck possession, support and playing the Team Game to develop Game Sense. We place an emphasis on player decisions, solving problems and being creative within game situations.
The development of Game Sense is a combination of recognizing the cues the game presents and using tactics and strategy to solve the games problems. Players exposed to our type of instruction can bring their new understanding and increased skill performance directly into game, while learning it in an atmosphere that balances the development of the athlete with lots of fun!
Each on-ice session is based on our daily point-of-emphasis and combines a series of skill development exercises, brings those skills into combination play in small groups then applies the skills and concepts in tactical game play.
Goalies: Goalies will receive position specific training in addition to participation in the regular practices and scrimmages.
If you are in the 12-14 yr. age range looking for a challenge on ice camp with a great off ice experience, this is the camp for you. We use the same top end on ice program that we use for elite older players, and the on ice results and changes are amazing! If you have questions, email us at: link
