LAKE PLACID —Of the 22 players selected to the U-22 national women's hockey team, three are products of the North American Hockey Academy in Stowe.
Amanda Pelkey, Annie Pankowski and Paige Savage spent several seasons in Stowe playing together, before being named to the U-18 national team. Now, the trio will travel together to Calgary to face off with Canada in a three-game series.
Pelkey and Savage have faced off several times in Hockey East play. Savage plays for Northeastern, while Pelkey is headed into her senior year at Vermont. Pankowski, who is a few years younger than the both of them, spent 3 seasons at NAHA and was the last forward cut from the 2014 Olympic team.
USA Hockey also named the 2014 USA U-18 Select Team, and Alex Gulstene, a current player at NAHA, was selected as one of two goalies.
